Technology for Rural America (TFRA)
Connecting both locally and to a global economy for years to come
Technology for Rural America (TFRA) was formed to address the resource gap many local government bodies face when it comes to broadband infrastructure planning and enablement. Our team is comprised of former telecom executives and subject matter experts from one of the largest broadband enablement companies in the United States. That company was founded in Louisiana and continues to have a headquarters presence in north Louisiana. Our team gained expertise in solving rural broadband availability in many rural markets in more than 34 states in the early days of high-speed internet technology.
Today, we provide the expertise to help our clients evaluate and choose the most capable providers and technologies capable of building networks that meet the unique needs and growth strategies of their markets. We recognize that each parish has its own challenges and opportunities that must be addressed with thoughtful, well-planned, and affordable approaches to keeping their residents connected both locally and to a global economy for years to come.

What We Do at TFRA
Tremendous Opportunities For Funding
Our nation is witnessing an unprecedented amount of federal infrastructure funding that is expected to last for the next several years. Literally billions of federal dollars may flow to the states over the next five years that will allow the Administration to disperse money to its counties, municipalities, and tribal areas for critical and long-delayed projects.
A tremendous focus and funding opportunity is now available for another and often overlooked infrastructure priority—that being broadband networks (high speed internet) for both rural and underserved markets. The recent COVID pandemic underscored the serious lack of viable internet availability in most Louisiana markets.
Now, city, parish and other local government leaders are faced with making many important decisions for complex technology issues, enablement, grants, and network architecture decisions they are not equipped or staffed to manage. Additionally, both federal and state policy makers are mandating the use of fiber optic cable for gigabit internet speeds and digital literacy training and affordability options for all users—especially those in remote areas or who are at or near the poverty level.
Clearly, informed, and timely decision making will be required to ensure successful broadband infrastructure outcomes in any given market.

What Our Clients Say
The TFRA team was instrumental in helping Caldwell Parish develop a comprehensive plan for our broadband future as well as helping us identify our opportunities to reach unserved residents. Â With their help we were able to find provider partners and see that our grants were filed on time.
